A Student’s Promise that Sent 65 Teachers Overseas

Today’s social media trend presents a truly inspiring story. Fredy Chandra, a businessman who sells fiber optics, had a terrible accident while in high school that left him in a coma for quite some time. During this period, he dreamed that he had been visited by every teacher since his elementary school to high school, wishing him a speedy recovery. Turns out, he did.  From that day on, he promised himself that he will take his teachers on an overseas trip someday.

So, what happened? He fulfilled his promise! He invited all of his 65 teachers on a five-day trip to Malaysia and Singapore. Fredy made sure none of the teachers were charged anything, from transportation to hotels and passports. He even went as far as giving each one a special allowance during the trip. This moment was shared by Sulikin, the Headmaster of SMAN 1 Pekalongan, in his blog entitled “MURIDKU GILA” (my crazy student).

The inspiring went viral on social media. Based on our viral meter, a post created by kompas.com appeared on the top with on Facebook with 2,886 shares, 810 comments, and almost reaching up to 30k likes.

The moral of the story is to always make good on our promises. In our day and age, there’s never too much kindness to go around.
