The football world was in a state of grief, especially in Indonesia. Choirul Huda, the 38-year-old goalkeeper from Persela Lamongan, has died after suffering both head and neck injuries during Liga 1 match last Sunday. The incident was reported to have happened in a collision between onrushing Semen Padang striker, Marcel Sacramento, and his teammate, Ramon Rodrigues, as he came off his line to challenge for the ball.
According to espnfc.com, Huda was clutching his face and rushed from the Surajaya stadion, Sidoarjo, to Dr Soegiri Lamongan Hospital. In the end, he was confirmed that he has sadly died in the hospital at 16.45 p.m. Taken from perselafootball.com, dr. Yudistiro Andri Nugroho stated that Huda suffered a traumatic collision which led to a cardiac arrest. He also shared that the team had already tried so hard to make him breathe but there was no response from him.
