Is there a gold medal for 71 Years of Independence? Evidently, there is now!

What’s the best present for Indonesia’s 71st Independence Day? Gold. Yes, Gold. As in the first Gold medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics, and that’s exactly what Indonesia got! All thanks to pro badminton players, Tontowi Ahmad and Lilyana Natsir as they both brought home the first gold medal for Indonesia in the 2016 Rio Olympics with the winning score of 21-14 and 21 to 12 against Chan Peng Soon and Gong Liu from the Malaysian team. Not only did they give the first golden win for Indonesia and became the the first Indonesian team to claim a place in the finals, but they also successfully regained Indonesia’s pride for the badminton gold medal that were taken away from the country in the past.

News about the win quickly became a trending topic on Facebook, generating 51.961 likes on kompas.com ‘s page and 28.966 likes on Beritasatu ‘s page, not forgetting the 22.799 likes on Liputan6 ‘s page detected by Sonar just yesterday (18/08/16).
